Go for visually impaired/blind

Because the material is very simple and the strategy is very deep, Go is very suitable to practice by visually impaired.

In many countries in the world, there are visually impaired/blind players and often of very high level (Dan and higher). In Asia especially, Go for the blind is very well established with dedicated tournaments.

Lightly visually impaired may be able to play with standard material, but heavily impaired and blind players may need adapted tactile Go sets that are not easy to find or very expensive in the market. The use of computers may also help to practice with facilitated assistance.

At the moment, one club has been created in the Ligue Braille in Bruxelles (2022). In the long term it is hoped to develop such activities in Belgium.
